Memory Lane Down Ashley’s Dance Journey In 2019
As 2019 approaches to an end, it is the time of the year to pen down Ashley’s dance journey in 2019. It has been an exciting year for our firstborn as 2019 not only marks her maiden voyage as a solo performer but also that of the opportunity of competing in different regionals for Get The Beat dance competition before she starts primary school in 2020.
As what every parents would feel, we were hesitant in our decision to have Ashley perform solo on stage as she has had always the comfort of performing alongside her friends in school. Luckily for us, Luminous Dance Academy’s Xpress Dance Challenge provided the best opportunity for Ashley to have her first experience performing solo on stage and despite initial hesitation in going on stage on her own, Ashley completed her first solo jazz dance routine “Birthday” and was awarded 2nd place for her category.
With the confidence built in the Xpress Dance Challenge, Ashley had the opportunity to compete in three regionals of GTB 2019 (Singapore, Taipei and Kuala Lumpur) where she surprised us with her placings, particularly with her performance in Taipei and Kuala Lumpur of which she was ranked 2nd overall in the Mini Category.
|GTB Regional||Singapore||Taipei||Kuala Lumpur|
|My First Solo||5th||–||–|
|Miss Mini GTB||–||–||1st|
To wrap up the year, we flew to Bangkok, the Land of Smiles for GTB 2019 Finals in December and once again, she demonstrated that hard work does pay off where she ends her first year as a soloist with a 2nd runner up placing in the Mini Champs category. Her achievements this year would not have been possible if we did not have great support from the JMDC family and we are blessed with awesome JMDC dance moms and dads who have helped in Ashley’s makeup, hairdo, costumes and props for her every performance on stage and dedicated teachers who have had great patience in guiding our little girl as she embarked on her dance journey.
