For those following our blog, this is a follow up review on my 20 Day Confinement Meal Package with Richfood Catering. Do note that the 20 Day package includes weekends as I mistook the package to only include weekdays and I had to waste food on one of the Saturdays when I headed out for Ashley’s dance class. With this, I would like to give special mention to Nigel, my contact over at Richfood catering who has provided nothing but exceptional customer service from day 1, helping me to reschedule my tingkat delivery every now and then throughout the 20 days even when I have informed him one day before the actual day of delivery.
Moving on to the quality of the delivered food, food is always warm upon delivery and you do not have to worry about eating cold food. Previously mentioned, I have decided on RichFood Catering as I am not so adventurous with food and prefer the traditional confinement food prepared by RichFood. In particular, I love the cod fish which tasted really soft and fresh and I would always look forward to seeing the dish during lunch. There was also a meal that I had my favourite pig trotters with vinegar. It might not be as spicy as what my confinement lady had prepared for me previously but nevertheless it still tasted pretty decent for a caterer. For mummies who are keen on engaging RichFood, you can pop on over to their website to check out their menu.
Here are some of the dishes that I had over the 20 days of confinement food catering with them.
For mummies on the go, I want to recommend the Spectra 9+ double breast pump. Having gone through the experience of lugging the heavy and bulky Medela PISA out during Ashley’s time, the thought of doing it once more dreads me. I first got to know of Spectra 9+ through a colleague who showed me how light the pump was and then on, the thought of purchasing it has been lingering on my mind even before Kingsley was delivered.
Purchasing a second pump for outdoor use might be costly to many but for Spectra 9+, one can opt to purchase the Korea set from Qoo10 which easily cost less than $150. I purchased my Spectra 9+ off Qoo10 at less than $110 with shipping which is a good buy for a double breast pump. A full charge of Spectra 9+ can last for 3 pump sessions of 15 – 20 minutes each. On comparison to my Medela PISA, Spectra 9+ is more efficient in emptying my breasts. For example, it took me 30 min to pump using Medela PISA whereas it took a mere 15-20 min for Spectra 9+ to achieve the same volume of expressed breastmilk. However, one has to take note that during the start of the pump session to adjust the suction power of the breast pump to the lowest power as the higher suction power from the previous pump session might cause pain to your breasts which have yet to acclimatized to the high suction power. In a short note, Spectra 9+ is an efficient portable breast pump that mummies can consider for on-the-go purposes, particularly for mummies who do not want to lug heavy breast pumps out with them to work on a daily basis.
As promised earlier, this is a follow-up review from my prenatal massage on my experience with BabiesBellies on their postnatal jamu massage. Given that I have undergone elective Caesarean section this time round, I can only opt for the basic postnatal massage package offered by BabiesBellies as the classic packages include Ganggang which is a traditional vaginal treatment which helps to reduce excessive vaginal discharge, eliminating unpleasant smell and help to fragrant the sensitive area.
As usual, Ally was fast in responding when I informed her of my delivery and Maria, her manager was prompt in contacting me on the appropriate time to commence my postnatal massage which is at least 3 weeks post-delivery for mummies who have undergone Caesarean section. Mdm Zainab, a senior therapist was assigned for my postnatal massages and despite her busy schedule, she always tried her best to arrange for earlier slots upon availability.

After being served well by Medela PISA double breast pump for providing Ashley with breast milk, I went with the decision to get the same model for my breastfeeding journey with Kingsley. No doubt Medela PISA is as effective in clearing engorged breasts this time round, I would like to highlight another breast pump for the consideration of mummies-to-be.
Prior to conception, I have signed up with the S-PRESTO clinical study jointly organized by KKH, NUS and SICS of ASTAR and NUHS which aims to study how a woman’s health, nutritional status and mental state before pregnancy will influence their subsequent pregnancy outcomes. One of the post-delivery samples they required for the clinical trial was to collect the mother’s breast milk. As they needed to process and freeze down the milk samples upon collection, the clinical trial coordinator brought along their Ameda Breast Pump for the collection of fresh breast milk.

Being a second time mum, the idea of capturing my preggie moments with Ashley has been in my thoughts during the early stages of pregnancy. From the many choices of studios providing maternity photoshoot packages, it can be difficult to sieve through the list to find one that fits the budget and yet meets one’s expectation of photographer’s skill. Ultimately, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity that cannot be repeated.
Studio Memories has been one of the studios recommended by one of the November mummies. Although having had Ashley’s photography done earlier by StudioPlay, we were not keen in repeating the experience as we were getting bored after seeing many babies repeatedly having the same backdrops and poses. However, as I was browsing through the different studios offering maternity photoshoot packages, it got harder to settle on a specific studio given the selection of studios out there. Hence, the best way to get it settled once and for all is to head down to a baby fair, gather all information on the available studios and decided the studio there and then.
The reason for engaging Studio Memories stemmed from the attractive package being offered in the baby fair which encompasses both maternity and newborn photoshoot at just $248. Furthermore, with prior knowledge of some of the works by Studio Memories with recommendation from a fellow November mummy, it facilitated in our decision making to go with Studio Memories for my maternity and newborn photoshoot.
Karyn has been particularly prompt at replying to my queries following up to the actual photography session and helpful at my endless questions on the backdrops and maternity wear available on site. On the day of the photoshoot, we had a fun loving photographer, Edmund, who was always cracking jokes to break the ice with my girl, making the session enjoyable and fun.
Besides having fun during the photography session, I am sure many of the mummies would agree with me that they hope to capture beautiful moments of their baby bump without looking like a clumsy hippo. Surprisingly, the photos turned out really nice and I did not look like a clumsy mummy hippo beside my little princess thanks to Edmund’s photography skills. Here is a sneak peek into some of the photos we had taken for the maternity photoshoot and now I cannot wait to bring Kingsley for his newborn photoshoot with Studio Memories.
