Review: Philips AVENT Steamer and Blender

Being a first-time mum makes every part of your baby’s growth a learning journey. With Ashley approaching 6 months, it is time to introduce her to semi-solids and not surprising, I am totally clueless how to go about weaning her. Furthermore, it has been a challenge trying to introduce her to formula milk during this period. Therefore, I have to think hard and through on the best way to introduce her to semi-solids. New knowledge can be especially overwhelming and contradicting as compared to tradition methods of weaning the baby. Through attending of weaning courses during my pregnancy, nutritionists have taught me that the best way to wean the baby is to introduce them to single ingredient pureed food (starting from vegetables and gradually to fruits) such that the babies will be able to taste and differentiate different food. In contrast, our mothers and grandmothers has started weaning most of us through the introduction of home-cooked porridge with ikan bilis, carrots, spinach and so on. So what is the best way for our baby then?

Buddha Jumps Over the Wall @ Ban Heng Restaurant

This is a month of celebrations. After celebrating Colin’s birthday on the last day of July, next comes my mother-in-law’s 60th birthday on the first week of August. It is never easy to think of dinner venues for birthday celebrations, let alone a 60th birthday celebration. After much deliberation, we decided to go for a chinese delicacy, Buddha jumps over the wall at Ban Heng Restaurant. Earlier, we have tasted the dish two years back when my parents gave us a treat in celebration of the July babies at home and we were satisfied with the quality of the dish. So, I thought, “Why not celebrate my mother-in-law’s birthday there this year?” Colin agreed and I proceeded on with the restaurant reservation a week before the celebration. Here is the world acclaimed Buddha jumps over the wall at a glance.

Steak Night at Greenhouse, Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore

Earlier in my post on Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora, I mentioned I wanted to deviate from Colin’s favorite steaks to bring him somewhere different on his birthday. But once again, our fate with steaks never ends when my mum made reservations for a birthday dinner treat at Greenhouse Ritz-Carlton Hotel and as the title suggests, “YES, it’s steak night!” Instead of just classic steaks, we were surrounded by 11 hearty beef dishes prepared by Executive Chef Massimo Pasquarelli including a 36-hour Braised Beef Shank, Grade 5 Tomahawk Wagyu Beef and Wagyu Burgers a la minute. We were practically spoilt for choices given the variety of beef dishes and not let alone, there was also a wide variety of cold dishes, Indian cuisine, garnishes and desserts to go along for a hearty buffet meal.

Here’s a brief look at a portion of the buffet spread of the night,

Review: Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Jumperoo

As parents, there are always thousand and one things you would want to get for your little angel at home. Colin and I are no exception. With Baby Ashley growing up day by day, we decided it’s time to start buying her toys that she can play in or play with to keep her entertained at home. Nowadays, toys are not just meant for entertainment. Instead, majority of them are equipped with additional benefits such as educational value. Therefore, choosing toys for kids are no longer a no-brainer but instead, you have to review and analyze what is most suited to the kid before any purchase.

So, what sparked our thought in the purchase of the Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Jumperoo? On a random day of scrolling through events on my Facebook page, I came across an uploaded video of my friend’s baby in her jumperoo. It was pure cute-ness as I watched the baby bounced up and down the jumperoo and you can totally share the baby’s joy through the video clip. With no doubt, I showed Colin the video clip and “TA-DANG”, we decided we should get one for Ashley. We believe she’ll love the toy as much as my friend’s little one given that our active little sweetheart loves to give her body a nice workout every moment of the day. In addition, there are several plus points to the jumperoo as a toy, (1) the moving, spinning and jumping can greatly enhance the child’s large motor skills and (2) the colorful toys and fun music  can act to further stimulate their visual and auditory senses.
