After much procrastination, I have finally embarked on my mission to look for a confinement meal caterer. I have always thought of myself to be a non-picky eater who does not have much requirements so I thought,” How long do I need to decide a caterer? I should be able to decide on the first try.” However, reality turns out to be otherwise. Tian Wei Signature happens to be the first caterer that I decided to give it a go given the wide publicity and good reviews circulating in Facebook.
The customer service was prompt in responding to the online order whereby they called to confirm the trial meal the next working day. Similarly, they are quick in responding to Facebook messages.
My trial lunch meal was delivered at 11 am and the food was warm on delivery. The $30 trial meal consisted of barley millet rice, Tian Wei Signature Coq Au Vin, papaya white fungus dessert and longan red date tea. I must be frank that I was surprised with the trial meal as it doesn’t look like the typical confinement food that I had in my first pregnancy. So, if you have a tastebud for traditional confinement food, the food might not fit the bill. The chicken meat in the signature coq au vin tasted dry and the sauce tasted more like ketchup than red wine. The longan red date drink was also a little sourish for my liking. For mummies-to-be who have sweet tooth, this might be something you might want to take note of as well. Of the entire meal, the papaya white fungus is the only food that tasted the norm for me. In a nutshell, if you are one who prefers traditional confinement meals, I would suggest having a go at the trial meal before you commit yourself to the confinement food package.
